I live in Ohio as well. When you file with the child support agency to get your current and future support, they will address back support at that time to. Yes, medical is included in that as well. The tricky part is on whether you can get back support or medical support. It depends on your situation & the age of the child. If the father is not on the birth certificate now & the child is older, then it is highly unlikely that you will get any back amounts. The judges tend to favor the father in this situation, saying that the father had no clue as to his obligation, and it would be unfair to penalize him now. That happened to a friend of mine. The mother waited until the child was 10, he wasn’t on the b-certificate. She asked for 4 years of back support. The Judge said no, for the reasons I already stated, the judge said she should have filed sooner. He only had to start paying from the date of the court documents, until the child is 18. Now if the child is really young, or the dad is already on the b-certificate, you can easily get some back support.
