Do You Support The Collapse Of The Chinese Dictatorship? Do You Think The Olympic Protests Will Help?

The world is seeing the brutality of the CHinese dictatorship. Chinese dissidents and pro democracy activists are being jailed and China is cracking down in Tibet. Are these the signs of the last days of this disgusting dictatorship? Do you support the collapse of the Chinese government and how do you think Olympic protests can help?

It is only a matter of time. The idea that Chinese are not ready for democracy, as some have suggested, is ludicrous. They are more than ready, in fact they are demanding democracy. More than 20,000 protests take place every year in China, mostly in rural areas. They are repressed violently and the protestors are beaten, jailed, and often killed by the security forces. These protests are about human rights, against corruption, land grabs, environmental pollution, injustice, etc. Dozens of reports confirm these (one article below as reference, many others can easily be found).
The angry boycott Carrefour is very eloquent and is a perfect sign of the profound malaise in Chinese society. These protests are one of the few CCP-sanctioned protest. It is a safety valve, and those angry mobs are only allowed to protest because the CCP knows it is a good outlet for their anger. I understand how one could be upset about the West and how the wheel-chaired Chinese athlete was presumably attacked, but I wish those angry young text-messaging Chinese urbanites would be a little more outraged about the hundreds or thousands of their own people beaten, jailed and killed each year simply because they protest for very legitimate reasons. But maybe they don’t care afterall, these peasants are poor and uneducated…
Edit: @Basile, by the way, I don’t have a cozy home, and I don’t have a cozy job too. Don’t assume things you don’t know anything about just because it looks nice in your answer to denigrate people you don’t know based on nothing at all.

China is one of the earliest cradle of civilization in our world. No outside force can ever bring its collapse, not even America & all his allies combined, China will still survive. Why? Whenever China will be facing any force to bring him down, all of China will unite to fight that force for survival. Chinese people are very patriotic & will not be cowed by a bullet like the Iraqis did when they saw American tanks fast approaching. Iraqis abandoned their leader upon hearing the explosions of bombs being dropped in their homeland. Not the Chinese, drop all your bombs & ammunitions on them but you may not bring its survivors to its knees, they will fight till you have no more bullets to fire, then you’re dead meat.
Even if we all support for its collapse, China will never bow down on ya. All means to make her fall will be in vain. Like the Japs in WW2, during the early stages of war, the Japs may have succeeded but were driven out in the end. Vietnam war, the Americans became so weary & in the end they withdrew leaving their pal, Vietnamese alone in its war.
China will defend its own for its existence in this world, at all cost, at all expense, up to its enemy’s last breathe.

No i don’t support the collapse of the Chinese dictatorship because it’s not a dictatorship. Don’t use the words America use to call Stalin on the CCP.
The world is seeing the brutality of China, but it’s also turning away from the racism, anti-china and China scare movement.
China is by no mean cracking down in Tibet, pictures, even videos taken in Nepal and India are being used to accuse CHINA for the so called crack down in TIBET.
Kiddish movement like boycotting the Olympics has been used in the past by both America and the Soviet Union, it provides no improvement towards world peace, instead, all it did was generate more hate and scare between the two world powers.
Before pointing the dirty fingers towards China because CNN and Fox use the pictures and videos that are false evidence, one should look at himself.
I think America is the one that should be boycotted for interrupting world peace. Invading Afghanistan and Iraq, at least 1.2 million Iraqi’s have been killed since the INVASION, how come there is no report of that in the U.S, how come there is no protester’s climbing the golden gate bridge to protest against the killing in Iraq.
I think what we should be supporting is the collapse of American’s occupation in Iraq.
Free yourself from the believes your government and media shackled you in, and you will see the truth.

I do want to see the end of communism but not at any cost. Dr Phil, sat in his cosy home, says they’re ready for democracy right now, fair enough, but he’s not taking into account factors such as weapons controls, uncontrolled militaries, secession of provinces, mafia main-mise on economy etc. We don’t want to see this country going chaotic, day over, just to please the west but the govt, needs to smoothen on people who want to express their opinions freely but not in the form of riots. I think China has already made a big progress by opening its economy and the country itself to the world, i persist in saying, give them time to swap their dictating policy for a less rigorous one.
Dr Phil, i used the word “cozy” because if China happends to collapse due to a brutal change of policy, any place [except if you live in a hot spot] would look cozy compared to this. I hope you get what i mean.

No. Ha. China is not that stupid like Gorbachev did to Russia.
No. Actually it’s making it even worse than it is. China don’t like rebels and traitors…get the facts.
Western nations don’t like their rebels and traitors and they abuse them and jail them; why are Western not called a dictatorship? Middle Eastern and Muslims have all been tortured and abused by EVEN locals…if this is the world it is; Chinese dictatorship should go on because it’s HELL a lot better than their Mao and Zeming years.
They can all move to Taiwan; Macau or Hong Kong.

No, I support the transaction from one government to one that the people want.
I hope that throught the protests that the Chinese people can channel that voices in a peacefull way (there are signs that its turning into mob rule) and show the government that they are not happy with some of the things they do in it.

I don’t support the collapse of the Chinese government. Get your facts straight: If China collapes, the world economy will collapes. U.S will suffer too. I still remember the impact of Chinese “black tuesday” (Chinese stock suddenly collapsed 10% on that day) and U.S stock market was tumbled 10% too. Your mommy and dad will be forced to sell their houses if China collapes! Don’t forget China lends $450 B. to US so that your mommy and daddy can get $1200 tax refund check to buy you a good birthday gift! Where does Bush get money from? If he continues to cut tax and support Iraq war, he has to borrow money from countries like China and Japan. China is the 2nd largest U.S debt holder. Is that weird when we call China a devil while we receive money aids from China? For those with open minds, please read the following article.

You’ve been watching too much of the twisted media here. Get a life and study history and learn what life before China reclaimed Tibet in 1950 was like.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsoc4-Qnp…
Before any one who sees my answers thumbs me up or down I curse anyone who doesn’t see the youtube video.
I bet China’s “dictatorship” can outlive your so-called “democracies”. India as you know, has the capability to pwn China’s economy, its corrupt “free” govt is slowing this process down. India would have been ahead of China ages ago if it didn’t have the “freedom” that is lagging it down in place.

No.i don’t think any protest is going to help.
If the china government wants to change, they will change. Not by other to tell them when and what to change. Many years ago, the Tienanmen event (millions of students and citizens of China ‘telling’ the government what they wanted) already justified that.

I support everything that helps end the brutal regime.
And each effort counts, no matter how small and how insignificant.
